HOW TO PLAY PANZER GENERAL 2 USING WINDOWS 7.
There are certain changes you need to make for PG2 to work in Windows 7.
These changes are in the compatibility mode.
The changes I made are as follows:-
1... Right click on PANZER2.exe and PG2UK220.exe and select their properties.
2... Select Compatibility tab.
3... Choose run this program in compatibility mode for Windows 95.
4... Tick run in 256 colours and run in 640x480 screen resolution mode.
This should get Panzer2 up and running.
Here is a way which allows you to take your Screenshots without switching off your DirectDraw acceleration:
Download the DirectX control panel from the clubs “Upgrades” page.
Unzip into its own folder and copy it to your Desktop.
Open up this control panel on your desktop which you have just downloaded and go to the DirectDraw section.
At the top of the page is a box for Enable Print Screen, click on this to enable.
Exit the control panel and you should now be able to take your Screenshots using the Print Screen key on your keyboard.
To take a Screenshot of your last move before you make it, highlight the unit which can capture the last V-Hex and just press the “Print Screen” key on your keyboard.
IMPORTANT
DO NOT exit your game at this point like you did with previous operating systems.
End your game as usual without taking the VHEX.
Save your turn and zip it up. This allows your opponent to see how you achieved your victory.
Then you can open Microsoft Paint or equivalent and Paste your screenshot.
Save as Winmove.jpg.
I also get the option at this point to zip the .jpg file.
There are other ways of showing a victory which should be agreed with your opponent when you start your game.
The most common one used is to take a screenshot as explained above, however, make sure that you do actually achieve a victory and that you have met all the victory conditions.
