Great balls of fire Commander
As you know, I imagined myself as a new recruit and downloaded the FFWC easy installer. I made my installation seperate from my existing PG2 setup and now
I have PG2 installed twice. My original version has a different name to the new FFWC installation so there are no problems there. I made a few dummy runs
with the SSI scenarios and they worked fine.

That looks easy. My daughter gives me her lap-top, it's gonna be useful on this long western trip. In exchange she got a brand new one, smaller and more
powerful for her last university year... ;-)
I'll try the full download, should be a lot easier than my own medecine to install this stuff... Thanks again El C!

O.k. It was fast and easy but how come there's no sound coming with the download? It's total silence. Do we need to do something else or it's me?
I did download the soundup and placed it in sfx but knowing it wouldn't solve the problem... I don't remember how to solve that. Thanks for your help.

Sound costs extra! Actually it's a big download (100Mb) of MEL files into your SFX folder to get sound. (BTW It does say on the Downloads page that there
are no sound files included! Well, it does now that I added it.
The purpose of the installer is to get guys up and running. I don't even play with sound (speakers off) so I often have no idea they are not there!

I know that we don't need the Soundup to play our games but I do miss all those explosions and tanks racing across the tundra.
I have downloaded Soundup and followed the instructions for installing. All of the .mel files are in my SFX folder but no sounds are coming from the games. Am I missing something, I do get all of the sounds in my original installation. I have noticed that in the Panzer2 folder installed through the FFWC Easy installer there is a folder called "Sound" which is empty. I could not find this in my original PG2 setup. Any ideas please. El C answered our question just above your last post Don. That's what I thought, you need to copy the .mel files from your other installation (SFX folder)
or from the original disk.
That will give you the sound in the game. Only after that you run the soundup download if you wish. I know you play without sound not to disturb your students in front of you Duane... ;-) But playing with sound is almost half the fun for me! Don't you think we could place it in the original download for newcomers Duane? That would be perfect. Thanks for your help.

I will put a separate download on the Downloads page. As I say, it's over 100Mb in size because it includes a lot of new sounds for later efiles.
If I'm correct, the SFX folder contains MEL files used by icons when they move, fire in the game. The SOUND folder contains music and the 'big' background sounds. Again, a big download. |

Quick question. Does either the easy intall, or the ffwc scenario installer include the map files and SHP files for all ffwc scenarios?

The scenario installer has everything - MAP files, SHP files, and PLY, SCN, TXT files.

Thanks EC. That's great. We should have had these installer tools years ago!
